This podcast is based on my forthcoming book, "Movement, Meditation & Medicine: A Personal Guide for American Blacks and People of Color with Cancer." In seven episodes here I cover some of the ways that American Blacks and people of color have been mistreated in the medical system in the United States, particularly with organ and blood cancers, such as Multiple Myeloma. It's personal for me and I have a lot to say on it since I was recently diagnosed I also give some practices that include movement and meditations to restore agency, support advocacy, and personal can collective healing. Cancer researcher Sandeep Anand Padala and her colleagues recently found that “[Multiple Myeloma] is more than twice as common among African Americans with an incidence of 16.5/100,000 among African American men and 12.0/100,000 among African American women (compared to 8.2 and 5.0, respectively, for Caucasians). Come with me on this short journey to learn how to avoid and manage cancer.
